Happy Tuesday everyone!
I talk to a lot of business owners each week and there’s a common theme I’ve been seeing over and over again, that we have to talk about. I’ll start with the symptoms that show up and then I’ll cover the underlying problem and how to fix it..
Here’s the symptoms I hear:
Problem #1- “I can’t hire good people. The only people that come on board are gone in a week.”
Problem #2- “Everybody I talk to wants a huge salary”
Problem #3- “There’s no good candidates on Indeed, craigslist, Facebook, ect”
Here’s the big “Elephant in the room” issue that you have to come to grips with….
Great people….. exceptional people…. don’t want to work for a company that has no plan, no momentum and no money. If you want A+ people, you have to create an A+ opportunity for them.
Think about it like this.
I’m a super star employee. I have a great job, a great team, I’m paid well and I’m happy. Why would I leave to come to your company where I have none of those things?
I wouldn’t.
Now, MAYBE…. you catch me on a bad day where my job cut my pay, my boss upset me, we had a new meeting and I didn’t like the new direction, ect and now I’m open to listening to new opportunities.
Guess what…. I have options and because I’m a super star person, I have connections (I’m not sitting on Indeed, Craigslist, Facebook).
Again, I don’t need to work for your company that has no plan, no momentum and no money.
If you want to hire me, then you MUST have a solid growth plan that lets me see the light a the end of the tunnel.
You must have a vision that I can sell my sacrifice to and best of all, when people are motivated by vision instead of money….. truly exceptional things are possible. I’ve seen it first hand.
